Perspectives

Recenltly Edna and I were discussing about what would be a good family car since the plan is to start planning for one in 2009. Then one question came up which caused me to wonder... viewpoints or perspectives of people can differ but sometimes, these perspectives are not backed up by concrete proofs or truths.



The question was "Are european cars more safe than japanese ones?" Speak to either version's sales person and they will quote you all their safety features and state that the car is safe. From a layman point of view, the perspective that has been ingrained into my mind has always been European cars are safer than Japanese ones because they are heavier and harder. Now the interesting point came when we realize that both makes can be of the same weight! Hmm... so which one is able to take collisions better? *shrugs*




Then leading on, I read an email from a colleague about money disappearing. It was talking about the fact that the value of stocks, house, etc are actually perspectives of people. How much that item costs depends on how much a person discerns it to be. A simple example would be Mr Quak selling his home. In the perspective of the buyer, that home is worth the amount of money. In the perspective of another, it might be more or less. But when the transaction is done, it is recorded to be that price. And now, if a lot of people are having perspectives that houses really do cost much less than current situation, how long do you think will the housing market hold at its current price?



And now looking at yourself, how do you percieve yourself? How much do you value yourself? And more importantly, how much does God value and percieve you? When we see ourselves as a failure, somehow it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. That's why the renewal of the mind is important daily.
